Till Date around 11 Cricket World Cups have taken place and Australia has been the most successful team having won 5 World Cup titles and finished runners-up 3 times. India and West Indies has held the World Cup twice each while Pakistan and Sri Lanka are the only other teams to have lifted the biggest trophy in World Cricket. Australian has WON most recent competition which took place in February-March 2015 was co-hosted by both New Zealand and Australia. Australia defeated New Zealand in the final to win their fifth world cup title in Melbourne. Australia has won three back to back titles in 1999, 2003 and 2007 and it was India who broke their winning streak in 2011 when they won their second World Cup in 2011 . Upcoming two Cricket World Cup hosting nations are already decided with England hosting in 2019 while India will be hosting in 2023. England has played two world cup finals but has lost on both the occasions in 1987 against Australia and than in 1992 against Pakistan.
Australia is one of the greatest cricketing nation and it is hard to imagine any other team breaking their dominance in cricket for several years to come.
