Flamingo gets its name because it is flame-colored. Young flamingos are grayish red while fully grown flamingos are light pink to blood red. A healthy flamingo will have more vibrantly colors while an unhealthy flamingo will be white or pale in color. Flamingos usually stand on one leg and its other leg is tucked beneath their body. It is believed that standing on one leg allows Flamingo to conserve body heat, since they are known to spend lot of time in cold water. However, stands in one leg even in warm waters. Flamingos are very good flyers.
